O campo vectorial F é conservativo se existir um campo escalar \(\varphi\) tal que \(F = \nabla \varphi\). Assim devemos ter
\(\varphi'_x = xyz^2 \Rightarrow \varphi = \frac 12 x^2 y z^2 + g_1(y,z)\)
\(\varphi'_y = \frac 12 x^2 z^2 \Rightarrow \varphi = \frac 12 x^2 y z^2 + g_2(x,z)\)
\(\varphi'_z = x^2 y z \Rightarrow \varphi = \frac 12 x^2 y z^2 + g_3(x,y)\)
Comparando as três expressões para o potencial \(V = - \varphi\), concluímos que \(V= -\frac{1}{2} x^2 y z^2 + C, C \in \mathbb{R}\).
